I like how it challenged me to play it again and again to see if I could reach higher upgrades. It is a simple, yet fun gameplay loop.

Some things I noticed while playing it:

  • The enemy health scaling does not reset after you retry. I have to reload the game to reset it.
  • In my first try I somehow managed to break the game: it started lagging and losing fps until I could barely see movement (might be due to too many enemy spawns)

Some suggestions:

  • The orbital upgrade seems to be not that useful compared to other upgrades. An increased damage or insta-kill would encourage the player to time the orbits onto enemies more allowing for more strategizing.
  • Probably has already pointed out but scaling is way too hard and progressing beyond two upgrades is really hard.
  • Making enemies less spongy but increasing the amount of enemies you need to kill is more satisfying, since shooting 40 bullets into one enemy gets tiring.
  • Some sounds would add a lot more juice

Overall, I weirdly like the simplistic design and enemy variety. The upgrades are interesting enough to encourage the player to get better at it. Keep cooking.

Definitely a fun game, reminds me of asteroids a bit, but this is with enemies and i really like the behaviors of different mobs, like how the green ones move away the closer you get. In my opinion, the scaling of the number of mobs is fine, i can handle it personally maybe not someone else but however, their health is way too high. I wanted to see what happens when i fill up the second bar but i couldnt do it with multiple runs. Apart from that the only thing missing is probably sound effects for collisions(not for enemy firing because it may just be too much noise).

Other things id recommend are what i see in other comments, like more power ups and such.

The game is fun, something arcade-y to get lost in, so maybe even a high score and leader board can go a long way.

I like the idea! I had a hard time playing it - probably due to my lack of skills. It might help to add some gradual difficulty progression, maybe based on time survived or number of enemies killed. For example, later waves could spawn more enemies and increase the percentage of stronger (higher HP) ones.

I’d also suggest adding some power-up items. One idea: when picked up, a circle appears around the player for a short time - any enemies that touch it are instantly destroyed, and any bullets that hit it bounce back in the opposite direction. That could add some nice variety and strategic moments to the gameplay.

Overall, I like the game and its simplicity. But you should add some explanatory text.

  • add health bars for damaged enemies
  • I felt like sometimes, the bullets didn’t harm the enemies, because it took WAY too long to kill a green one; I’m not sure if this is a bug, but I didn’t find any other bugs
  • you should add some retro sound effects to improves the game’s feel
  • at first, I didn’t know killing enemies would give me buffs, so maybe add a main menu page and a tutorial page where you explain this (and other things)

Good job!

Level Design:

  • I like the choice for the infinite playfield
  • The simple background works well for keeping contrast with the enemies, but some of them blend in with the zone
  • The variety in enemies is nice
  • I think you could find a premade asset for the sprite of the player and enemies to make the game look even nicer

Issues/Bugs:

  • I didn't notice any bugs! This is nice considering the number of enemies and how they interact with each other and the player

Overall design and feel:

  • This is one of my favorite type of game (reminiscent of e.g. Vampire Survivors) so it was quite fun, even though I think the health of the enemies is a little bit too high, making it hard to kill them with no option for piercing when others surround them (thus no EXP, maybe a small amount of passive EXP would be good? or getting a proportional amount of XP for damaging the enemy instead of lump sum for kill)
  • The abilities are cool and satisfying
  • It is nicely optimized and feels good to play, considering the amount of stuff on the screen

At first I was quite confused but it quickly became very fun! Im not sure if it is too difficult or I am just bad at this game but I found it quite difficult to do get far. Perhaps increasing player health or decreasing number of enemies and their health would be nice. The level could get progressively more difficult.

Pros:

  • The physics and shooting mechanism of this game are very impressive, and you fined tuned the controls really well.
  • It is quick paced and a good challenge

Cons:

  • Probably slightly too challenging from the get go but it would be at a nice standard once you play for a bit
  • The menu for restarting or quitting didn't work for me, so to replay I had to reload the game.

Overall, this is good MothlessLamp

This is a really nice game, reminds me of mobile survivor.io. It is simple yet challenging and fun to play.

Among the suggestions I can say that due to some skill issues I was not able to progress much, but still I can mention few things:

1. You can add the score so the players can compete with themselves
2. Randomise the selection of powerups in the future
3. Consider making enemy health lower at the beginner stages and increasing it with each your upgrade, so it will be slightly easier to progress
